Formed by bassist/singer Justin Currie at his Glasgow school in January 1981, it was only drummer Paul Tyagi and Justin that continued with the band recruiting guitar playing architect students Iain Harvie and Bryan Tolland.

After playing gigs around Glasgow and despite matching arty shirts they remained outside of the trendy Glasgow music scene. NoStrings founder Nick Low, came across the band through Justin’s older sister, and after Nick’s New Order promotion in 1983 the line-up were ready to record a single for the new NoStrings Records label.

"Sense Sickness/The Difference Is" was recorded at Palladium Studios and 27/5/83 and was released as NOSP1 alongside The Suede Crocodiles 7". The band toured, supporting The Fall and their jangly guitar sound started to be noticed. The single was followed by a concert on a John Peel roadshow and a session for Peel's Radio 1 programme was booked - 4 tracks of which "Crows In The Wheatfield" was mooted as the next NoStrings release & attracted the attention of Chrysalis Records who immediately signed them.

Their self-titled debut album was eleased in 1985 and the band waved goodbye to NoStrings.They subsequently went on to enjoy great success with A&M Records and the rest is history... to get filled in with the last 20 years go to
